(Buyer Question)
We are not legally married. What are the best steps to take when purchasing a property together?
TAWANA'S ANSWER:
Buying property with someone who you are not married to is a huge financial risk. There are precautionary steps can take to ensure that you each of your interest are protected in the purchase of a property. Signing a prenup for the home will help to establish a co-ownership contract and choosing the right title that best suites both your needs are what you should consider. I recommend speaking with your real estate attorney to advise you on your options.
